Objectives & Role

As the Sponsoring Body, Manudiaz Education Foundation pledges to:

1. Establish and maintain the University: Provides the foundational framework, finances, and governance support required to set up and sustain SRDU.
2. Ensure academic infrastructure & support: Ensures provision of world-class academic and infrastructure facilities across disciplines such as science, technology, humanities, law, and pharmacy.
3. Nominate members to governing bodies: The Board of Management includes persons nominated by the Sponsoring Body (e.g., two educationists) and other members recommended by it.
4. Dissolution, assets & oversight: The Act grants the Sponsoring Body authority to dissolve the university under prescribed conditions (with due notice). In such cases, all assets and liabilities revert to the Sponsoring Body; however, if dissolution occurs within 50 years, assets may vest with the State Government.
5. Compliance & accountability: Ensures adherence to statutory obligations, financial integrity, and submission of audits and reports as required. Violations may result in forfeiture of funds or state intervention.

In the Statement of Objects & Reasons of the SRDU Bill, Manudiaz Education Foundation asserts its intention to:

• Establish a self-financed private university in Sikkim with high academic and infrastructure standards.
• Provide education across diverse fields and disciplines, with preference to Sikkimese students for admission.
• Promote holistic development, cultural integration, innovation, and social transformation through education.
