ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY AGAINST RAGGING

Shri Rukmani Dwarkadhish University (SRDU) strictly prohibits ragging in any form inside or outside the campus, hostel, classroom, transport, online platforms, or university activities.

SRDU follows the “UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009” and Supreme Court guidelines. Ragging is treated as a criminal offence.


1. What is Ragging?

Ragging includes any act causing:

  • Physical abuse
  • Mental harassment
  • Emotional pressure
  • Verbal abuse
  • Bullying
  • Humiliation
  • Threats or intimidation
  • Online harassment
  • Forcing students into illegal or uncomfortable acts

Any activity that disturbs the dignity, confidence, or safety of a student is considered ragging.


2. Ragging is Strictly Prohibited

Ragging is banned in:

  • University Campus
  • Classrooms
  • Hostels
  • Playground Areas
  • Transportation
  • Online / Social Media Groups
  • Events / Tours / Activities

3. Anti-Ragging Undertaking Mandatory

Every student and parent/guardian must submit an Anti-Ragging Undertaking/Affidavit during admission as per UGC guidelines.


4. Punishment for Ragging

Students found involved in ragging may face:

✅ Warning
✅ Suspension from Classes
✅ Fine / Penalty
✅ Hostel Suspension
✅ Cancellation of Scholarship
✅ Debarred from Examination
✅ Rustication from University
✅ Expulsion from University
✅ FIR / Police Action
✅ Criminal Proceedings under IPC

UGC regulations permit suspension, expulsion, examination debarment, and other disciplinary action.


5. Anti-Ragging Committee & Squad

SRDU maintains:

  • Anti-Ragging Committee
  • Anti-Ragging Squad
  • Monitoring Team
  • Student Support System

The university may conduct:

  • Surprise Inspections
  • Hostel Monitoring
  • Counseling Sessions
  • Awareness Programs

UGC guidelines require institutions to create anti-ragging committees and monitoring systems.


6. Complaint & Reporting System

Students may report ragging:

  • Directly to University Authorities
  • Through Anti-Ragging Committee
  • Through Online Complaint System
  • Through Confidential Reporting

Students can also use the National Anti-Ragging Helpline if required.


7. Responsibility of Students

Every student must:

  • Maintain discipline
  • Respect juniors and seniors
  • Avoid abusive behavior
  • Immediately report ragging incidents
  • Cooperate with investigations

8. Responsibility of Parents

Parents/Guardians must:

  • Guide students against ragging
  • Support university anti-ragging policies
  • Submit mandatory anti-ragging declarations

9. University Rights

SRDU reserves the right to:

  • Suspend or cancel admission
  • Take disciplinary action
  • Inform police authorities
  • Initiate legal proceedings

10. Declaration

“I hereby confirm that I will not participate in any ragging activity directly or indirectly and will follow all Anti-Ragging Rules of SRDU.”
