ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY

Shri Rukmani Dwarkadhish University (SRDU) is committed to providing a safe, secure, respectful, and harassment-free environment for all students, faculty members, employees, admission partners, visitors, and staff members.

SRDU strictly prohibits any form of sexual harassment, gender-based violence, bullying, stalking, intimidation, or inappropriate behavior within university campus, hostels, transportation, online platforms, offices, or university-related activities.

This policy follows:

  • Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013
  • UGC (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of Sexual Harassment) Regulations, 2015

1. Definition of Sexual Harassment

Sexual harassment includes any unwelcome act or behavior such as:

  • Physical contact or advances
  • Demand or request for sexual favors
  • Sexually colored remarks
  • Showing pornography or explicit content
  • Online harassment or cyber stalking
  • Verbal abuse or inappropriate comments
  • Threats, intimidation, or humiliation
  • Unwanted messages, calls, or gestures
  • Any conduct affecting dignity or safety

UGC guidelines recognize verbal, physical, non-verbal, and online harassment.


2. Applicability

This policy applies to:

  • Students
  • Faculty Members
  • Administrative Staff
  • Non-Teaching Staff
  • Admission Partners
  • Consultants
  • Visitors
  • Contractors
  • Online Learning Platforms
  • University Events & Activities

3. Internal Complaints Committee (ICC)

SRDU shall maintain an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) as per UGC & POSH guidelines.

ICC Responsibilities:

  • Receive complaints
  • Conduct fair inquiry
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Recommend disciplinary action
  • Provide support to complainants
  • Promote awareness programs

ICC Composition:

  • Presiding Officer (Senior Female Member)
  • Faculty Representatives
  • Administrative Representatives
  • External Expert Member
  • Student Representative (where applicable)

At least 50% members shall be women as required by UGC norms.


4. Complaint Procedure

Complaint Submission:

  • Written complaint may be submitted to ICC
  • Complaint can be submitted physically or digitally
  • Complaint should preferably be filed within prescribed timeline

Inquiry Process:

  • Confidential inquiry process
  • Equal opportunity to both parties
  • Witness and evidence review
  • Time-bound investigation
  • Fair and impartial hearing

UGC regulations require confidential and timely inquiry procedures.


5. Confidentiality

SRDU strictly maintains confidentiality regarding:

  • Identity of complainant
  • Identity of respondent
  • Witness details
  • Complaint documents
  • Inquiry proceedings

Unauthorized disclosure may result in disciplinary action.


6. Protection Against Retaliation

No student or employee shall face:

  • Threats
  • Pressure
  • Victimization
  • Academic discrimination
  • Employment discrimination

for filing or participating in a complaint process.


7. Punishment & Disciplinary Action

Any person found guilty may face:

✅ Suspension
✅ Hostel Suspension
✅ Fine / Penalty
✅ Removal from Position
✅ Cancellation of Admission
✅ Termination of Employment
✅ Debarment from Examination
✅ Police Complaint / FIR
✅ Legal Proceedings under applicable laws


8. Awareness & Training

SRDU may organize:

  • POSH Awareness Programs
  • Gender Sensitization Workshops
  • Student Orientation Sessions
  • Faculty Training Programs
  • Campus Safety Campaigns

UGC requires regular awareness and sensitization programs.


9. Online & Digital Conduct

Sexual harassment through:

  • Social Media
  • WhatsApp
  • Email
  • Video Calls
  • Online Classes
  • Mobile Applications

shall also be treated as misconduct under this policy.


10. False Complaints

False or malicious complaints intentionally filed with misleading information may also attract disciplinary action after proper investigation.


11. University Rights

SRDU reserves the right to:

  • Initiate disciplinary action
  • Suspend involved persons during inquiry
  • Inform legal authorities
  • Modify policy as per UGC / Government rules

12. Declaration

All students, employees, and associated persons must follow this Anti Sexual Harassment Policy and maintain dignity, equality, and respect within the university environment.
